More Than Equipment

The right equipment should make communication clearer, not more complicated.

Tack is not separate from horsemanship

Our Approach

Forsmanship Tack

Decades of working with horses, combined with extensive experience with tack, have given us a clear understanding of how equipment can influence communication between horse and human.

From that experience we have developed our own line of handcrafted bitless bridles and halters, designed around the horse’s psychology, individuality, and the importance of clear, precise feel. Every piece is made by us, by hand, at our farm, one at a time. There is no standard production line, and no two pieces are exactly alike.

Each is made with a purpose: to support communication rather than get in the way of it. Practical does not have to mean plain. Our tack is functional, and durable, while still leaving room for personal expression.

Rope Halters & 5m Leads

Our rope halters are made from soft, flexible rope that allows clear communication while remaining comfortable for the horse. They are designed to give the handler feel and precision without adding unnecessary bulk or hardware.

WHY OUR ROPE HALTERS HAVE NO SNAP?

A snap may be convenient, but convenience is not always the same as clarity. The weight and movement of a metal snap can interrupt and dilute the feel traveling through the lead, making the signal less precise. For this reason our rope leadropes are made without a snap. The leadrope becomes a more direct extension of the handler’s hand, allowing the horse to feel a clearer and more consistent signal.

WHY 5 METERS?

Five meters gives the horse enough space to move without being pushed into the handler’s personal space or forced to walk directly into pressure. In a herd, a horse does not normally walk with its nose pressed against the horse in front of it. There is space, space that allows each horse to move, think, and respond. The same principle applies when we lead. With a 5 metre leadrope we can walk ahead while maintaining connection and allowing the horse to find an appropriate position. This becomes especially important outside the arena, crossing a ditch, negotiating uneven ground, or working in open spaces. The longer leadrope allows us to maintain a safe distance while still directing the horse. For us this is not simply about equipment. It comes back to psychology: clear boundaries, appropriate space, consistency, and communication without unnecessary pressure.

sidepulls

Our sidepulls are designed to give clear, direct communication. The design is based on years of working with horses and observing how small changes in pressure, movement, and feel affect the horse’s response. We believe bitless does not automatically mean better. What matters is how the equipment is used and whether it helps the horse understand what is being asked. A well designed sidepull should allow the rider’s feel to reach the horse clearly, while giving the horse the freedom to respond without unnecessary interference. Each sidepull is made by hand at our farm, with attention to fit, balance, feel, and the individual character of the finished piece.
